Message from the Dean
Dear Fellow Chapter Members,
March was a very active month in the life of our chapter. On March 12, a superb master class was given by Michel Bouvard, and on March 14, Michel Bouvard presented a remarkable recital at St. Ignatius. Many thanks to Kent Tritle, Renée Louprette, and the entire music staff at St. Ignatius for their tireless help in making this event possible. Many thanks also to the fine performers who participated in the master class: Matthew Brown, Nicole Cochran, Jason Roberts, and Christopher Creaghan.
The chapter Young Artists Competition also took place on March 24th at All Souls Unitarian Church. Three young artists competed. The first place winners of each of the chapter level competitions will compete in the regional competition to be held this summer in NYC during the Region II Convention. The first place winner of the NYC competition was Noah Wynne-Morton. The second place winner was James Wetzel. Both are currently students at the Juilliard School. Special thanks to Dr. John King, the competition coordinator, and to Walter Klauss who hosted the competition. Judges for the competition were Dr. Claudia Dumschat, David Shuler, FAGO, and Dr. Walter Hilse, FAGO.
We look forward to our next event, the chapter members' recital that will be held at the Holy Trinity R. C. Church on June 4th. Our host will be Christopher Berry. The recital will be followed by a catered dinner. Information on reservations and cost of the dinner will be provided in the May newsletter.
Of course, the final event of the 2006-07 program year will be the Region II Convention. If you have not already registered, please do so as soon as possible in order to make certain you have a place at the workshops of your choice. If you are coming from out of town, please make your hotel reservations as soon as possible. The first week of July is actually a very busy week in New York City and hotel rooms are hard to come by, so please take advantage of the convention room block while there are still rooms available at the special convention rate.
Why not take a moment to finalize your plans to attend the Convention today?
