The parish of St. Leonard of Port Maurice was established in 1872 to serve German Catholics in Brooklyn. In 1978, the church was absorbed by St. Joseph Patron Church, and the building was razed 2001.

The tubular-pneumatic organ that was rebuilt by Tellers-Kent in 1922 may have been built by the A.B. Felgemaker Company of Buffalo. Specifications for this organ have not yet been located.
