RKO Royal Theatre

423 Westchester Avenue at 3rd Avenue
The Bronx, N.Y. 10455

The 2196-seat Royal Theatre, located in the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx, opened in September 1913, and was one of the first large commissions for architect Thomas W. Lamb. Owner Percy Williams launched it with vaudeville only, but after he sold the theatre to Keith's in 1918, movies were added. The theatre later became the RKO Royal. After closure in 1967, the Royal was demolished.
