St. John’s University broke ground for St. Thomas More Church, its first-ever, free-standing church, in October 2002. Completed in September 2004, the church seats nearly 500 people and features an octagonal tower and central cupola topped by a cross. The church is located at the southeastern corner of the University’s Great Lawn, and its front entrance is opposite that of St. John’s Hall. Inside the church, hand-crafted mosaics and stained-glass windows adorn the circular walls. The Church also includes meeting rooms and office space for Campus Ministry. |
